what is NOT a snow day in wisconsin

Update: everything is relative...check out Vonnie's latest post to see what hard core winter really looks like.

Tom made it all the way home (he normally has a 40 minute commute...that day 2 hours) only to get stuck at the bottom of our driveway. We've had 56 inches of snow so far this year.
Our backyard...beautiful after the storm.
The street, looking north.
All of these pictures are for Jill, my weather happy friend. Without her, my kids would have gone to school wrongly attired many a time. Even though she moved to southern Illinois she still gives me a heads up on the "big ones." So, at your request, I hope these pics give you the warm fuzzies...actually we are the ones in need of warmth. Miss you all so much...and wish we could have hit the sleds with you this afternoon.

Beautiful! Wish you could send some to Cinci. It has been a winter with very little snow to speak of. Thus we are sad. We are praying for a snow day. The weather man says maybe Tuesday. I hope so!! :)

We can sympathize a little bit here in Idaho. We have been getting a lot of snow!
Stay warm!

Are you seriously saying that even with that much snow it isn't considered a snow day as in people drive around in it (other than Tom!) and have school and everything goes along as normal!?!?!

Mary: this should have been a snow day but the superintendent made a bad call. As a consolation prize we got a 2 hour delay the NEXT morning. I'm still not tired of winter, officially. But a trip to FL sure sounds inviting!

Jenny, Jenny....just when I thought we were kindred spirits! :)
I'm glad that you're happy with your snow. I'm glad that the snow is going where it is most wanted. Though as I type, we are under a "winter storm" sort of advisory. Sleet, snow, freezing rain, etc. YUCK!

I'm with Tara on this one...there is more than one reason I live in the South...better watch what I say or the Lord might consider a change!!!

Great pics thou!

Bad call is right! I wasn't sure if that was what you were saying (as in they didn't realize how much they were going to get) or if you were saying that even with that much snow they don't consider it a snow day. Sure is pretty! I wish you could take a trip to FL, I would so love to see you again.

These pictures are beautiful! I love the "idea" of being snowed in but would rather have our warm climate for the long haul! :-)

Know what I think about when I see all your kids dressed up in snowsuits? The amount of time and effort it must have taken to get them all bundled up and out there...and then back in (and out again....!) :-)

Jenny!!! Thank you for putting these pics up! We miss you so much. We would have loved to hit the sledding hills with you. I have to admit that I don't miss the below zero temps you're having, but I do miss the snow. It looks beautiful and I'll bet you have arms of steel from shoveling it. Seeing pictures of your kids and home make me wish I could drive that easy few blocks and have some hot chocolate with you. (sigh)
Well, there's always camping this summer...
love and miss you!

I bet the kids had a blast! We have also been getting tons of snow, for us anyway. We usually get a couple of inches a year and then it melts that day. OUr snow has stuck around and steadily getting a few inches a week. Your snow looks like much more fun!
