Good Read

Daddy's coming home today! So, we are excitedly cleaning and doing the Saturday morning chores knowing tonight is going to be a sweet reunion.

Tom recommended this article (Holy To the Core) written by a new friend of his over the phone to me this week. I really liked it and thought I would share it with anyone else interested.

This quote, taken from the article is a very good (but short) summary: "holiness is the grateful submission to God's claim on our entire lives--to accept that our lives are not our own."

Articles seem to me the perfect length of reading material for my stage of mothering--it's about all I have time for but enough to provoke some deeper thinking (which makes me a better mom, as well).

I would love to see someone start a "book club" of sorts (large hint and vote of confidence in those interested)...

Okay Jen, I am responding to your earnest request that you want your family to weigh in comments on your new blogging adventures. I know Cole Bear, Si Guy, and Maddie Kate are eager to see Dad tonight and probably just about as excited about the trip to the airport to get Dad. Also, I think I may have figured out a way for all of you to come visit in July. Love Ya Forever!

I had read this article too, and was so impressed...interesting that Tom has met the author. Such an unbeliveable thought that "God's holiness is our holiness" In the "homily" this evening for Trinity Sunday, we were reminded again of the myteriousness of that union..and likewise the manner in which we are actually called to PARTAKE in His holiness!!..so NOT something we can "do" on our own. Also loved the truth that holiness itself is not the end goal..but how it affects our relationships, etc. Good stuff here! Happy that Tom is back w/ya'll!
(and I love the article sharing as well!!:) Will we be brave enough to tackle a book??!! We shall see.)

I haven't had time to read the article, but I will!

Love the book club idea!!! I have just finished up a book with a group from church and it has been very rewarding! I'd love to participate!

I would love to take part in a book club. Perhaps we could start a completely different blog just for a book club. Hmmmmmm.... We could call it Kindred Spirit's Book Club.

I'll get back to ya on this one. Might work on starting such a blog of everyone wants to join?

Great article. Thanks for sharing. I was intrigued when I got to the part regarding holiness in the body of believers. I just finished blogging a bit about the body of Christ. (I was thinking this morning during communion.) Anyway, I really enjoyed what the author had to say. Good, thought provoking stuff!

That was a good quote that you shared Jenny. I'm too am always looking for things to make me a better wife and Mommy! =) Also, love your template...GREAT TASTE! =) Here's a comment that I posted on my blog to all of you ladies who left sweet comments about Sarah's grad. on my blog.

Ladies, y'all are very kind...Thanks for your sweet comments about Sarah's graduation and reception! I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT GOD AND MY FAMILY'S HELP! We were frantically working all the way up until 2:00 (the time that the graduation was to start)PRAYING HARD that God would help us get everything done. Little did we know that we could have RELAXED for most of our guests arrived 1-2 hours late! =D

God bless each of you, your comments meant a lot to me! I REALLY MISS GETTING TO INTERACT WITH OTHER HOLINESS LADIES! So....Thanks for being my BLOG Buddies! =)

Thanks so much for directing me to this article. Our pastor has preached on holiness several times recently. The combination has made me want to start digging deeper.

Jenny;

I am anxious to read the article as well.

On a lighter note, I love the funky hair picture of your little one. :)

Some friends and I are reading, The Well Educated Mind and are starting the "book list" of the authors suggested reading. Don Quixote is first. Do you know how hard it is to read Don Quixote with two boys asking questions and laughing? What am I saying, of course you do. I love the online book club idea, but am not sure I can tackle anything more than "Don" right now. :) Keep us posted though, who knows.
